Neck Knife forged from high carbon 52100 steel, Cocobolo natural wood handle.
Overall length 188mm, Blade length 90mm. Blade thickness 4.5mm at spine. Sabre grind.
Neck knifes are designed to be carried on a cord around ones neck so that it is always to hand and is less likely to be lost in wild environments. These knives are often cited as being the most practical and useful because of their size making them ideal for camp chores as well as domestic ones such as box opening.
Drop point blade for utility with high carbon 52100 steel for edge holding performance and ease of maintanance. This blade has been forged by hand in my coal forge and I have retained forge marks at the ricasso and spine of the blade to demonstrate its providance - this means that there is a unique pattern along the grind line that will not be the same as any other blade in the world.
I recommend that this blade is dried and oiled after use to protect against rust and staining.
I have selected natural cocobolo wood handles for its stunning, beautiful grain that is unlike anything else. I also use cocobolo because of its its high density and oily wood nature which means that it is able to resist absorbtion of water more successfully than other types of wood making it a functional material. I recommend that it is treated periodically with boiled linseed oil to nourish and protect the wood.
The sheath is hand crafted, dark walnut coloured shoulder butt leather- textured and double stitched for duribility and treated with beeswax based wax to protect and nourish. I have included a brass D ring for attachment of a cord or a dangler if preferred at a later date.
