Nessmuk pattern knife made from Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel with black canvas micarta handle.
Total length 240 mm, Blade length 123 mm. Measured hardness 58 Rhc. Blade thickness at the spine- 3mm. Full flat grind.
The Nessmuk pattern is a classic outdoor enthusiast, first attributed to a Mr George W Sears who was pioneering in exploring the outdoors and writing of his experiences in 1880s America.
This knife is based on the origional pattern of a blade with a pronounced belly suited to skinning game and of a size to make it useful for most camp chores. I have made a pronounced finger choil in the handle to prevent the users grip slipping onto the cutting edge.
Constructed with Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel and with a full flat grind to provide and emphasis on resisting staining and rust in moist conditions but with sharpness and performance, paired with an ease of sharpening and maintance.
Black Canvas Micarta handle scales attacted with stainless / brass loveless bolts and brass lanyard. Micarta handle selected because of this materials ability to withstand expansion or contraction with changing environmental conditions.
The sheath is handmade, hand carved shoulder butt leather that has been double stitched for durability then treated with a beeswax based wax to nourish but protect the leather. I recommend that the user also applys a coat of nourishing wax or leather polish to protect the leather.
