Drop point hunting knife made from O1 High Carbon Steel with oiled oak handle.
Total length 220 mm, Blade length 105 mm. Measured hardness 58 Rhc. Blade thickness at the spine- 3mm
The Drop point pattern is suited for the hunter who needs to process game as well as the out door enthusiast requiring an all round blade.
Constructed with O1 high carbon steel and with a sabre grind to provide and emphasis on sharpness and performance, paired with an ease of sharpening and maintance.
Brown Oak hardwood handle scales attacted with black fibre liners, stainless / brass loveless bolts and brass lanyard. Hardwood scales provide a warmth and feeling that is unique to natural materials as well as a unique natural beauty.
The sheath is handmade, hand carved and textured dark walnut shoulder leather that has been double stitched for durability then treated with a beeswax based wax to nourish but protect the leather. A brass D Ring is attached to the belt loop so a dangler can be attached at a later date if required.
A choice of these materials will require the user to develop a relationship with their tools. O1 steel while providing exceptional performance requires to be dried and oiled after use to prevent rust and staining of the steel. Natural wood such as Oak is chosen for handle scales because of the high density of the material and it has been made with a protective coating of linseed oil. Natural wood scales if subjected to wet conditions may expand or contract therfore I recommend to periodically apply a thin coat of linseed oil to the handle to protect and nourish the wood.
